The city of Vallejo, CA, is located in California’s San Francisco Bay Area and offers a variety of activities for visitors. History

The first settlers of the Vallejo region were the Coast Miwok Native Americans. The area was later colonized by Spanish and Mexican settlers in the 18th century, who named it after General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo. In the mid-19th century, American pioneers settled the region, and it became part of California statehood in 1850.

For those looking for an adrenaline rush, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is the place to go. With high-speed roller coasters and other thrilling rides, the park provides endless entertainment. The Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum offers visitors a unique insight into the city’s past and the history of the Mare Island naval base. Another popular destination is the Empress Theatre, which hosts concerts and films in its ornate 1911 building. Benicia State Recreation Area covers a variety of landscapes, including grassy hillsides and rugged beaches, making it perfect for hiking and biking.

Food and Nightlife

Vallejo has a thriving culinary scene with options ranging from traditional Mexican and Latin American cuisine to inventive fusion dishes. Fun Facts

Vallejo’s history is intertwined with that of the U.S. Navy: Mare Island Naval Shipyard, located in Vallejo, was the first U.S. Navy base on the Pacific coast and played a major role during World War II and beyond.

Vallejo, CA, served as the state capital for two (short) intervals – in 1852 for one week and again in 1853 for a month.
